Montreal, August 31st 1910
My dear Jennie,
Got back to Montreal about 9-10 Monday morning but was in the office before the chief. I hope you did not get lost on your way home.
My first day's work was a cinch, but yesterday was a corker from 8.00 am till 6.00 pm. However no more eight o'clock after today.
I had a postal from Flora yesterday in which she said among other things "for goodness sake do not write me a letter" but just the same I did write a letter. She also said she was so busy that she had almost forgotten me. Some day she'll be sorry.
I got your films and sent them on to you last night, but I suppose you'll be so much taken up with the party that you won't have time to take pictures. The chief's people are still up at Ivey and I am hoping that he will go up for the weekend and stay over Labour Day, although nothing definite has been said yet. He is talking aout going to Nova Scotia next week with Mr Bosworth and I suppose that means being away at least a week so that unless this falls through I wont see much of you after you get back.
While I was on holiday Max and the chief had a big row and Max wanted to quit right away but Mr Buell got it smoothed over, but Max says he is going to look for another job.
How many cows have you milked since I saw you last? Oh you milkmaid. Unless you do better the next time I will have to put it down as bluff.
If Flora goes up to Howick on Saturday, can I come up with her? I hate to intrude, but should Mr McNicoll go away and I have a holiday look how lonesome I will be. If it will put you to any trouble please do not hesitate to let me know. I would
I have asked Flora to let me know when and where she will arrive back in Montreal and if I can I will meet her, that is, if she has no one she would like better to meet her.
I want you to get this tonight so I will have to quit and get it posted.
