--And even earlier--A farewell Letter as James leaves Scotland

I am still experimenting with the most effective ways to photograph these letters so they are legible.

And I am still learning to read handwriting from this time period.  I continue to be amazed at how the rag paper is well-preserved and surprisingly tough.

Here's my best attempt at transcribing this letter.

Glenfruin  [Or perhaps Glenfriars']--Milford
6th June 1907

Dear James--
I have been thinking of you today and the probability that your presentation will be coming off to-morrow--
I am sorry I will not be there to add a word and wish you godspeed.  Therefore I send you this little note to assure you of my good wishes and hopes for your best success in your new country--I have no fear but your conduct will do credit to the old country & I trust your health will improve & that you will be long spared in the land.  In any case I hope God will bless and keep you and that you will be true and faithful to him.
With kindest regards I am yours ever faithfully,
James Houston
