After a two year hiatus from transcribing these letters, I decided it was time to get back into the project. It is utterly fascinating to hold these beautifully-preserved documents, and to wonder if my grandmother ever sat down and read them again in her later years. She and my grandfather clearly had a special relationship, though it was cut short by his death when their children were tiny. I don't think my mother read them all in order. What a story they make!
I'll let the letters tell the story. Here's the next one, which Jim wrote to Janet on March 31, 2011, almost 103 years ago.
Here's page 1:

Jim had, indeed, addressed the last envelope to her home on Mance Street. I am not sure whom he suspected of opening his letters to her; but he addressed this one to her at her work, at Canada Cement Company, Ltd, Montreal, Que That was the entire address.
